I've rarely had to deal with the highly unpleasant experience of having a cold when it's ungodly hot. Yesterday I was so rundown I could barely stand for most of the day, and it was also one of the warmest days we've had all summer... and my first summer living in a house with no AC. It was a party, let me tell you.
Now, this poor blog has gone ignored for a week or two now, but for good reason, I promise! Okay, now where did I leave off?
The back pain did subside eventually, and we did make it out to go shopping for a bed. Kyle bought a queen boxspring, and I bought a King/Queen frame. Adding these to the decent mattress we were sleeping on made it livable! ( On a side note, the mattress we were sleeping on was actually a double -- no wonder we had trouble sharing! ) Now our newly fixed bed situation didn't last too long; we suddenly had five people living here, and Cody wanted his mattress back. We had thought there was an extra for him, but it had gotten mouldy :C. Ew. We managed for a couple days, because Chelsea had moved most of her stuff here, but wasn't actually staying with us, and Kyle borrowed her bed.
Work finished*. I had a free week to get ready for school. And that meant cleaning. And oh boy did we clean. Kyle put it nicely: "I've been cleaning straight for two days. Cleaning so much I still don't have a bed yet!" We moved my desk downstairs (we have about 6 computers running in the living room on average!) and got a little creative.
Fact: Both Kyle and I have decent twin beds.
Fact: Our new bed frame expands to a King.
Fact: Two twins side by side is roughly the same size as a King.
Fact: I have -no- floorspace anymore.
But oh man is it awesome. Not only that, but I have a kickass bed set for it! I will post pictures of it once it is wintery enough to need more than a thin blanket.
So, cleaning sucked up an entire week frighteningly fast. Here are a couple highlights from between cleaning sessions:
I managed to convince my mom to come with the family to Dessart Sweets for icecream. We were sitting on the steps of one of the nearby stores while we all finished our treats, when a cat wandered over. My mom quickly made friends with it and offered it some of her ice cream cone, and it wasted no time taking some. Mom and I both thought this was hillariously cute, and tried to convince Kyle to let the cat lick some ice cream off his finger (he refused.). Once he had finished my Smore Parfait for me, he did let the cat lick the spoon clean.
A couple days ago (Saturday, Sept. 5th), me, Kyle, Chelsea, Janice, and Ben went on a trek of Regina.
We walked from our house, around the lake to the Legislative Building to go on one of the guided tours (Janice is an expert in the Leg tours!) I gave Ben my camera, and he snapped many a picture for me! Next, we walked through the park to the Royal Sask Museum. On the way there, we passed through the city's Speaker's Corner. Ben and Janice goofed around for a bit.
Oh the museum, how I love it. I've always loved going there, for as long as I can remember. We did the walkthrough, and it was still as great as it's always been. Janice's favourite part is one square of a quilt from a reserve school(?) where young girls were tought to embroider.
Our guess is a Murderous Carrot (see the knife?) shouting rainbows.
To end the trip, we saw Megamunch!
*Hurrah!
